The application, entitled “Method for Determining Severity and Progression of Periodontal Disease,” has allowed claims covering methods of determining a subject’s genotype to ascertain their risk of developing severe periodontal disease and the treatment of those at risk to slow the progression of the disease.

The most common forms of OA involve the hand, knee, hip, and spine. The etiology of OA is multifactorial, involving both mechanical and biochemical factors.
